There are lots of things that brighten Joel’s life. His three-year-old daughter, Evie, is one. His close relationship with her mother, his best friend from university, is another. Joel’s boyfriend, Dan, adds spice to his child-free nights, and Joel is pretty happy with how things are.

Then one cold and rainy night, everything changes. Joel's life is turned upside down when he becomes a full-time dad to Evie, and his previously carefree relationship with Dan cracks under the strain.

Meeting Liam, who acts as if getting hurt isn’t a foregone conclusion, shakes Joel to the core. Their attraction is mutual, and Liam makes no secret of how serious he is about Joel. But Joel is wary. He tells himself he’s keeping Liam at a distance for Evie’s sake, when really he’s protecting his own heart. Taking a chance on this new relationship with Liam may seem a small step—a little thing—but is it one Joel can take after losing so much already?

 Reviewed by:

 What a great little story.

At first I was a little put off by the 'open' relationship between Joel and Dan. I'm ok with people being in said type of relationship, if both parties are adhering to it, but when it's one sided, it may as well be cheating. As the story goes into Hough, I can tell that this is kind of a back burner to the whole thing.

Joel has a 3 year old daughter with his best girl friend from College. A little drunken tequila slip up and a faulty condom and BOOM, they have a child. I actually liked this portion of the story. Two friends, one 'mistake', and they make it work and remain friends and help each other with split custody. I admire their relationship and Evie is just adorable.

Things take a turn for the worse for Evies mom, Claire, and Joel finds himself with more responsibility than he ever hoped he would have. This puts a rift in his relationship with Dan, it opens his eyes to see Dan for what he is and what he cannot be to Joel and his family.

On this fateful night, Joel literally bumps into a kind stranger who helps to calm him down so he can drive home in one piece. After the encounter, Joel forgets about him until another night Dan drags Joel out thinking he needs to get out of the house. Lo and behold, he runs into said stranger again. This further opens Joel's eyes to what Dan really is, and much to my relief, Joel breaks it off.

Every time Joel meets this wonderful stranger, it's never under good circumstances, but each time is a stepping stone towards something greater.

The stranger, Liam, is a male nurse in the children's Ward at the hospital where Joel met him. I just absolutely love his character. He's such a gentle giant. Sweet, tall, handsome, and totally great with Evie. I LOVED LOVED he fact that he 'fit' in too. By that I mean, he has an uncanny resemblance to Evie, with their tight brown curly hair and blue eyes, but she has Holes face. It was like they were meant to be a family, and doesn't THAT just make you giddy?

So, if you're looking for a father/child, sweet, but somewhat sad, but turns into an HEA, then THIS is your book.

Blog Tour & GIVEAWAY ~ No Quarter by Christine D'Abo

Hello, my name is Christine d’Abo! Thank you so much for having me here on the blog today. I have been a big fan of all things science fiction since I was six. I started by watching reruns of the original Star Trek, moved on to watching (and re watching) Star Wars, and finally I was introduced to the world of Doctor Who.

My world exploded, expanded and I loved it all. The idea of space operas, and how they focus on the people and their developments, rather than the science was what appealed even at that young an age. The adventure, the romance, good versus evil, showed me that there could be more to live that what existed in my tiny world.

As I got older and my life experiences grew, I never lost that love of space opera. One thing that I wanted to do was to put my own mark on it, to show a different side to the worlds that had been portrayed. The Bounty series was my way of doing that. Not everyone in the universe is straight, and it’s important to show diversity out amongst the stars as well as here on Earth.

The men and women you’ll meet – both space pirates and bounty hunters alike – are full of life, love and are most definitely up to no good. I hope you enjoy reading their tales as much as I loved writing them.

About No Quarter

When bounty hunter Gar Stitt is given a simple locate-and-retrieve mission, he’s convinced it’s a waste of his skills. His success rate is legendary, after all, and Captain Faolan Wolf isn’t hard to find. He’s the most notorious pirate in the galaxy, and when he shows up planetside to take his pleasures, he’s far from subtle.

Faolan never expected a hot but tightly wound hunter to walk into his private party and try to apprehend him single-handedly. And when an unexpected betrayal forces them to work together, Faolan’s even more surprised to find himself drawn to Gar personally—especially since neither of them do personal.

Gar had intended to put Faolan in prison. Instead he finds his solitary existence shaken by his desire for the pirate. And when the bounty hunter becomes the hunted, he must put his faith in Faolan and his pirate crew, or run the risk of ending up dead.

Publisher's note: This title is an edited second edition, previously published in 2010.

Timing Snippet. Taken From Chapter 5.

“How’s white wine?” Cole held up the bottle. “I don’t know if it’s any good.”
“Ugh, I love you right now,” Tom sighed, “because that’s just what I need.”
Cole joined Tom on the floor in front of the fire, sitting closer than he had intended to. Their shoulders touched but Tom didn’t react by edging away, so neither did Cole. He cracked the seal on the wine and filled the tall glasses to the rim, not sure what amount was the right amount. The bar didn’t seem to attract the type of people who ordered wine.
“These are champagne flutes. Points for effort, though.”
Listening to the crackling of the fire, they sipped the wine and Cole started to feel more and more nervous. The silence between them wasn’t awkward but he felt like he wanted to say something, if only to talk to Tom, to find out more about him.
“S-s-s-s-so,” he stopped dead.
Tom turned to look at him but he didn’t look shocked or horrified, he just smiled. It was a normal smile without the usual subtext of pity. That eased Cole.
“Sorry, let me try that again.” Cole exhaled, his cheeks burning but not from the heat of the fire. “So, how old are you?”
“Twenty-six, which, according to Ricky, means I have four years until my gay death.”
“Ricky talks a lot of shit.”
“Yep,” Tom laughed, “I’ll drink to that. What about you then? Charming boyfriend in the city? Girlfriend? Both?”
Tom suddenly stopped talking and sipped his wine quietly. He dragged his knees up to his chest and stared dead again at the fire.
“Nope. Single. Waiting for the right guy.”
Tom nodded and said, “Awesome.”
“What about you?”
“Me?” Tom practically choked on his wine. “I’m too busy for all of that.”
“By ‘all of that’ do you mean love and relationships or sex?”
“All of the above? I work my arse off at work to try and get ahead and it doesn’t pay off. Do you want to know what my big Friday night plans were? I was going to go home and watch The X Files with my cat, drink a glass of cheap white wine and fall asleep with a pizza on my knee. How depressing is that?”
“That,” Cole said with a nod, “sounds like my kind of night.”
Stretching out, Cole reached across the sofa cushions, his arm going around the back of Tom’s shoulders. He didn’t realise what he was doing until he was there but he knew it would look even stranger if he quickly retreated. He left it hanging on the cushions, straining his shoulder so that his arm didn’t touch the back of Tom’s neck or the quickly forming thick curls as they dried.
“Are you feeling warm yet?” Cole’s fingers instinctively wrapped around Tom’s shoulder to give it a rub and they both turned to stare at them.
“Cole, I -,”
“I’m sorry.” Cole quickly pulled his hand away. “I don’t know why I k-k-k- - for f-f-fuck’s sake!”
He put his wine on the floor and hid his embarrassment by planting his hands firmly on his face. Under his touch, his flesh burned hot and he felt like a fool.
“This damn stutter,” he mumbled through his fingers, “it only ever comes out when I’m n-n-nervous.”
Grunting in frustration, he ripped his hands away and planted them in his lap, staring straight down at his fingers so that he wasn’t looking at Tom to see his own embarrassment reflected.
Instead of judging, Tom simply asked, “Why are you nervous?”
Cole thought for a second, trying to think of a way to word it but he knew the only way was the truth. Turning to face Tom, whose face was soft and open in the dancing firelight, Cole wondered if he should say the words that he felt deep in the pit of his stomach.
“Because I really like you.”
They silently stared at each other as Cole waited for Tom to react. One part of him expected Tom to laugh and the other part of him expected him to get up and leave. The storm was still battering the side of the farmhouse, which meant that the second option was less likely. When Tom closed his eyes and leaned in, the first option seemed just as unlikely.
Tom’s lips brushed gently against Cole’s and it felt as though time stopped around them. Cole couldn’t hear the wind and the rain shaking the old windows, nor could he hear the crackling fire as it warmed up the room; all he could hear was the beating of his shuddering heart in his chest.
The kiss was delicate and it was over as quickly as it had begun. Tom pulled away, his teeth nibbling as his lip and his brows downturned at the edges.
“I like you too,” Tom’s voice was barely above a whisper, “but I haven’t done this in a while and I don’t want to rush into anything.”
“I wasn’t going to rush you.”
“Good,” Tom sipped his wine with a small smile before leaning into Cole’s side.
At first his body was rigid against Cole’s chest but he seemed to settle into a space that seemed as though it had been perfectly made for Tom’s body. Pulling him in close, Cole smiled down at Tom as he stared ahead at the fire. His curls had dried and one hung limply over his eyes. Reaching out, Cole brushed it to the side so he could see Tom’s eyes. He looked up at Cole and he smiled back nervously.
Cole had no idea what they were doing or where it was going but he knew that it felt so different to his usual hook-ups and he liked it.

Blog Tour ~ Cookies by Teodora Kostova

I went to war, running away from myself. I came back in pieces to find out who I really was...

It took me nearly ten years, two tours in Afghanistan and losing a leg to come to terms with who I really am.

Two years after coming back from war, I can say that I’m finally content. I’m as fit as ever, my prosthetic leg allowing me the freedom to move and exercise as if nothing has changed. I own a small bakery in the centre of Cambridge, and I have a loyal circle of friends that I can always count on.

And yet...

Yet, there’s something missing. A part of me craves the intimacy, the deep connection to another human being. But another – bigger – part of me is terrified of letting anyone in.

My internal conflict didn't stand a chance when I met Jay. He stormed through my defence walls like a hurricane, wrapping around me with gentle force until I had no choice but to surrender.

Surrendering has never felt so good.

Will Jay want to stay when he sees the real me? When he sees the nightmares and insecurities clawing at my soul? When he realises the burden I come with may be heavier than we both can carry?

My name is Amir Gopal and this is my story.

Amir is a war Vet that has suffered burns, an amputation and PTSD.  Once discharged from the military, he turned his love of baking into a business and opened up Cookies.  One busy day, a beautiful young man, Jay, comes in for something sweet and Amir was taken by him instantly. Once they get together I kept waiting for the angst. But you know what.....THERE WAS NO ANGST!!!!!  This was a super sweet, like toothache sweet, book and I loved every bit of it! The sexy time between these two was HOT!!! I hope to read more about these two guys and some of the other characters as well.

Hi, my name is Teodora and I live in London with my husband and my son. I've been writing ever since I can remember, but it became my full time job a few years ago when I decided that everything else I've tried bores me to death and I have to do what I've always wanted to do, but never had the guts to fully embrace. I've been a journalist, an editor, a personal assistant and an interior designer among other things, but as soon as the novelty of the new, exciting job wears off, I always go back to writing. Being twitchy, impatient, loud and hasty are not qualities that help a writer, because I have to sit alone, preferably still, and write for most of the day, but I absolutely love it. It's the only time that I'm truly at peace and the only thing I can do for more than ten minutes at a time - my son has a bigger attention span than me.
When I'm procrastinating, I like to go to the gym, cook Italian meals (and eat them), read, listen to rock music, watch indie movies and True Blood re-runs. Or, in the worst case scenario, get beaten at every Nintendo Wii game by a very inventive kid.

Don't be shy and get in touch - I love connecting with my readers.

Strong Enough

Strong Enough: Family Collection

  • Written by: Cardeno C.
  • Narrated by: Ezekiel Robison
  • Length: 6 hrs and 43 mins

When a casual hookup turns into the potential for love, staid Spencer realizes he wants to build a life with vibrant Emilio.
When 22-year-old Emilio Sanchez sees handsome Spencer Derdinger walking by his construction site, Emilio makes it his goal to seduce the shy professor. Getting Spencer into bed isn't difficult, but Emilio soon learns that earning the trust of a man deeply hurt will take time and patience. With a prize like brilliant, sweet Spencer on the line, Emilio decides he is strong enough to face the challenge.
Spencer is surprised when he's approached by the gorgeous construction worker he's admired from the safety of his office window. Acting spontaneously for the first time in his 38 years, Spencer takes Emilio home. When the casual hookup turns into the potential for love, Spencer realizes that if he wants to build a life with Emilio, he'll need to be strong enough to slay his personal demons and learn to trust again.

I kind of had mixed emotions with this one, but the good definitely outweigh any other emotions. Ezekiel did such a great job narrating him too, he really brought his character to life. Sweet, romantic, and funny. You couldn't ask for a better character.

I wasn't too sure with Spencer's character at first. I felt he was 'too old' to be that, nieve isn't the word, but things kind of went over his head. Then you get to know him and his character and I found him more and more endearing.

Emilio brings out a confidence in Spencer that he was lacking before. He seemed like such a doormat with his past relationships. Emilio may only be 22, but he seems so much wiser than his years. I think a lot of it has to do with his large family and upbringing.

Spencer also comes from a small family that he doesn't really talk to, in fact they live on the other side of the country. The circumstances that brought Spencer to Vegas, too are sad, it's a wonder he's lost confidence and doesn't trust very well. But with Emilio's persistence and huge happy family, it's enough for Spencer to not feel lacking in any department.

This really is a sweet story, regardless to how fast it seemed they were moving. It felt inevitable anyways. I think everyone needs an Emilio.

Ezekiel did a great job with a good story. He brought a whole new level to the story and I highly recommend it if you're looking for something with a HEA.

Unfortunately we didn't get a chance to review this audio. I will say though that almost every single audio I have listened to by CC has touched me in some way and has made me a happy sap with her stories, especially in the Home Collection. She is true to her word about HEA's and all the sweetness and is my "go to"when i need something uplifting. We will be giving this one a chance as soon as the opportunity arrived.

Sokel and Sebastian from "Broken Alpha" are back. Sole has long known his Human mate has harbored certain hidden fantasies and desires, but he's not the kind of Alpha to demand anything of his omega. One night, a whispered word slips past Sebastian's lips -- daddy. Ever the devoted Alpha, Sokel sets out to help his mate understand that these cravings don't make him a deviant. But when Sokel visits a fellow healer in an attempt to please his mate, has he gone too far? And will their best friends and housemates, Korden and Rennett, be able to accept this new twist to their lifestyle?

"Daddy!" The second time it happened, they were living on Presidia, and the word had forced its way from that elegant throat, through lips pressed thin and tight. Sokel had tensed for a fraction of a second and then carried on, determined not to encourage his mate's palpable self-consciousness. He caught a fleeting glimpse of something through their link—the hazy impression of Sebastian's mouth suckling on a baby bottle. He'd always sensed certain hidden desires through their link. Had he been a different sort of Alpha, he would've simply forced the issue and took the knowledge from his mate's mind. After all, Sebastian was Human, and as such couldn't actively shield his thoughts. If Sokel wanted in, he'd get in. But Sebastian's lack of ability was the very reason Sokel refused to pry. The desires lived in black boxes in Sebastian's mindscape, and though Sokel had asked once, his mate wasn't ready to let him see. He thought, though, he might have gotten a glimpse with that one breathlessly choked out word. Daddy. The next day, he rearranged his schedule of lectures so he had a break in the afternoon. He needed a few minutes to himself for research. A few minutes turned into ten, which turned into twenty, which hurled itself toward an hour. It took a few attempts to narrow and refine his search parameters, but once he did, he began to understand. The photos were explicit, and there were dozens, but he got the gist: two Presidian men lay on a bed together, one feeding the other from a baby bottle. Another picture showed a Human male, stroking his cock as he sat on a woman's lap, sucking from her breast. A little more investigation and he determined Sebastian had what Humans called an infantilism fetish or age play kink. It made sense, he supposed. Sebastian's parents had both died when he'd been four. Lacking any other family, he'd ended up at an orphanage. Though located on Earth, the place was owned and operated by the Service, which meant a mostly non-Human staff. There had been very few other Human children, and Sebastian had once told Sokel he'd had no real friends until he'd enrolled in the Academy in his teens and met Korden and Rennett. Sokel sat back in his chair and looked over the images again. He could work with this. He went to his vid screen and called Korden, arranged for his friends to be out of the house for a couple hours tonight. He let his aid know he'd be out for a while, and made a trip to a small baby shop in the market to purchase a bright blue baby bottle. He stowed it in his bag and returned to work.
