Sometimes you need to go back to your past, in order to move on to your future.

Jax Hunter has spent the last ten years trying to forget his first love Nathan Steele—and the brutal betrayal that derailed everything he’d worked so hard for. Jax has finally gotten his life back together, when Nathan returns to deliver another blow – his company is set to bulldoze the bar he’s built from nothing.

Ever since that summer in high school, Nathan has been denying his feelings for Jax—the only person he’s ever loved. Nathan knows Jax might never forgive him, but when Nathan’s uncle is murdered and Nathan might be next on the hit-list, Jax is the only one he can turn to.

Jax still doesn’t trust Nathan—not with his bar, and for damn sure, not with his heart. But the more time they spend together, the harder it is to resist the undeniable passion between them. Can they overcome their past hurts and learn to trust each other again? Or will another betrayal tear them apart forever?

Today we're pleased to welcome  Cali Mackay, and her writing partner , Julie Farrell. Cali’s American, a mum of two (not counting pets!) and married to an Irishman, and Julie comes from Good Old England, but is currently living in Spain in the sunshine. We got to ask them about some of the important part of their writing and anything new and upcoming. Take a peak to get to know these ladies a little better!

What comes first for you, the plot or characters?
The characters and the tension between them drives the plot for us both.

Tell us something about your newest release that is NOT in the blurb.
That there are smoking hot sex scenes throughout, and plenty of romance too.

Tell us something about your work in progress. What is it about?

It’s about Carter who we get to know and love in Taken Back, and his ex-boyfriend, Seth, a rockstar with a terrible secret, which has come back to haunt him. Carter is the only one who knows the secret, and the only one who Seth can trust, even though they had an awful breakup, and Carter has yet to forgive him for his betrayal.

When did you first consider yourself a writer?

When it was the only thing we constantly wanted to be doing. We were compelled to write.

A Divine Exclusive Excerpt from Book 2

It was almost as if the air in the bar shifted around me.  Despite it being a packed Friday night, I immediately spotted him and my heart dropped, years of anger and betrayal surging through my soul.  “Are you fucking kidding me? What the fuck are you doing here?”

I growled out the words, grabbing the baseball bat from behind the bar. I needed him gone.  Needed him out of my life once and for all.  Riding on a wave of fury, I stalked towards the guy who’d shattered my heart and abandoned me.  I shoved Seth, my hands connecting hard with his muscular chest.  “You fucking asshole.  Get the fuck out of my bar.”

“Carter… just hear me out.”  Seth did nothing to defend himself, an exhausted look of apology on his face, his soulful brown eyes pleading with me to listen.  “Please… can we talk?  This is important.”

“I don’t fucking care.  You lost the right to my help when you chose your lies over me.”  Emotions I had longed buried assaulted me, ripping open wounds that had never fully healed, even if I’d somehow mustered the strength to keep moving forward with my life, though he’d always haunted my thoughts, making it impossible to truly move on.

Before Seth could argue with me, Jackson was at my side, stepping between us and taking up my fight, though I was happy to deal with himself.  “Sorry, but you need to take your ass out of here, before this gets ugly.”

“Honestly, I didn’t come here looking for trouble.  I just need to talk to Carter—and it can’t wait.”  Seth sounded rattled and desperate enough to have me wondering what the hell was going on, since he’d never been anything but cool and calm, unwilling to waiver from his rockstar image—not that I cared.

I put a hand on Jackson’s arm to let him know I was okay, and had this under control.  If anyone was going to throw Seth out, it’d be me.  “I’ve got this.  He’s leaving The Goat—either under his own steam, or with my help.

” Jackson stepped aside, though he didn’t go far, nor did he take his eyes off Seth as I stepped forward and grabbed him by his worn leather jacket, and hauled towards the door, the patrons of The Goat all clearing the way. I ignored his pleas as I dragged him outside into the cold night and rid myself of him with a hard shove.

He spun to face me, still looking devastatingly handsome with his tousled dark hair, deep brown eyes, and new tats peeking from his T-shirt onto his neck.  “Someone knows, Carter.  Please… I’m not asking for a lot.  I just need to talk to you.”

“Yeah, well, I’m fucking busy working for a living.”  And just like that, I turned around and walked back into The Goat, leaving him on the sidewalk as he called my name.

Not that he was going anywhere.

At the end of the night, I found him leaning against my car, his long legs stretched out in front of him.  I waved off Jackson and Nate, knowing they wouldn’t be happy that Seth was still lingering, and though they got in their car, they didn’t leave.

I shook my head and unlocked my car, pulling the door open.  “You’re like a bad fucking penny, Seth.”

“For fuck’s sake… I just want to talk to you.”  His London accent had yet to fade, despite his years of living in the States—and fuck, but it still made my cock go hard, even he was a bastard.  “Just let me buy you a midnight breakfast.  There’s got to be some twenty-four-hour place around here.

” I wanted to tell him to go fuck himself, but if it was related to his secret, then I’d be a real asshole if I walked away without at least hearing him out.  “Get in the fucking car then.  Pain in the ass.

” His expression relaxed with relief, as he climbed into my car, and I gave the boys a wave to let them know it was okay, so they wouldn’t be waiting around and worrying.  I drove us out of town, towards the only diner still open this late at night.  Tension hung in the air between us, our past issues too big to ignore, despite the years apart.

“I’m sorry, you know… I never meant to hurt you.”  The sincerity in his voice caught me off guard, though it did little to temper my hurt and anger with him.

“Well that’s just fucking brilliant then.  I guess that makes it all better.”  I forced myself to focus on the road, my hands tight on the steering wheel as I gripped it to keep from throttling him.  “Because you’re clearly here to apologize, rather than because you need something.  Fucking manipulative bastard.”

“It’s not as if you’d accept my apology anyway, if I’d come here out of the blue—and you sure as shit don’t want to see me, so why would I have come here to stir things up other than because I need your help and my life is on the line.”  He let an exasperated sigh and ran a rough hand through his hair, the action at once so familiar.

Ignoring him, I pulled into the parking lot and walked towards the diner, leaving him to follow, without so much as a glance in his direction.  Because he might be in trouble, but he was still an asshole.

Of course, I should have known better than to go anywhere in public with him.  We’d barely been shown to our table when heads began to turn in our direction, and a rumble of whispers started.  I groaned, hating this, knowing exactly how it would play out, his adoring fans swarming him for autographs and pictures.

And I was in no fucking mood

As Seth’s fans found the courage to approach him, I bit back my frustration, and waited it out, grateful that it was two in the morning and most his fans were in bed.  And being the constant performer that he was, his mood shifted to a carefree smile that lit up his eyes with a sultry soulfulness that even I had a hard time ignoring, which was exactly why Seth Black was so fucking dangerous to be around.

To his credit, he did his best to wrap things up quickly, before turning back to me.

“Sorry about that.  You know what it’s like.”

“Yeah… all too well, which is why you’re no longer in my life.”  That wasn’t exactly the truth since we’d broken up for completely different reasons, but at the moment, I didn’t give a shit about the details.  “What the fuck do you want, Seth?  Because my patience with you was razor thin to begin with.”

His mood was now dead serious, and the genuine fear in his eyes was a rare thing, which only spoke to how dire things were for him. “Did you tell anyone?”

My rage returned at the implied accusation.  “You’re a fucking asshole.  How could you think I’d do something like that?  I’m not the one who betrays people in this relationship—that honor is all yours.

” He pulled out a letter and slid it across the table at me.  “Well, someone found out, and you’re the only other person who knows the truth.

” I opened the letter to a mostly blank page, with just a single line typed across it.

I know what you did at Clearwater Lake.

I could see why Seth was so freaked out now.  “Is that it?  They didn’t send anything else?

” Seth leaned forward across the table, keeping his voice to a whisper as I folded the paper back up again.  “No… nothing.  I don’t even know what they fucking want with me.  I don’t know who they are… what they know... They’ve asked for no money, and the cops haven’t arrested me.”

“And you don’t have any clue as to who’s behind this?”  Because by the looks of it, Seth was screwed.

“No… no clue at all.  And that’s why I need your help.  I’m begging you, if you ever felt anything for me, you won’t let me deal with this on my own.”

And yet, that was exactly what I was going to do.

Virtual Blog Tour & Giveaway ~ Looking for Group by Alexis Hall

So, yeah, I play Heroes of Legend, y’know, the MMO. I’m not like obsessed or addicted or anything. It’s just a game. Anyway, there was this girl in my guild who I really liked because she was funny and nerdy and a great healer. Of course, my mates thought it was hilarious I was into someone I’d met online. And they thought it was even more hilarious when she turned out to be a boy IRL. But the joke’s on them because I still really like him.

And now that we’re together, it’s going pretty well. Except sometimes I think Kit—that’s his name, sorry I didn’t mention that—spends way too much time in HoL.  I know he has friends in the guild, but he has me now, and my friends, and everyone knows people you meet online aren’t real. I mean. Not Kit. Kit's real. Obviously.

Oh, I’m Drew, by the way. This is sort of my story. About how I messed up some stuff and figured out some stuff. And fell in love and stuff.

About Alexis Hall

Alexis Hall was born in the early 1980s and still thinks the 21st century is the future. To this day, he feels cheated that he lived through a fin de si├Ęcle but inexplicably failed to drink a single glass of absinthe, dance with a single courtesan, or stay in a single garret.

He did the Oxbridge thing sometime in the 2000s and failed to learn anything of substance. He has had many jobs, including ice cream maker, fortune teller, lab technician, and professional gambler. He was fired from most of them.

He can neither cook nor sing, but he can handle a 17th century smallsword, punts from the proper end, and knows how to hotwire a car.

He lives in southeast England, with no cats and no children, and fully intends to keep it that way.

If you're not an MMORPG player or have zero knowledge of it, this book is probably not for you. I will guarantee you will be lost in the first chapter between the abbreviations and the world and group chatter of the game ((which is actually done like real in game chatter)) For those of you that know wtf a DSP, PVP, ABC ;), then
If you really want to try this book though and aren't privy to the gaming world, I highly recommend the glossary that's in the back of the book.

The story is basically inside the game. Our two MCs meet when Drew joins a new guild. Drew finds Solace's outlook on in-game play intriguing, because he pretty much literally stops and "smells the roses" instead of just going quest to quest. It's helping Drew find his love for the game again, and is slowly drawing Drew to Solace (aka Kit). It's also bringing up the whole "you never know who's behind a character" thing up as well. Drew isn't quite sure if solace is male or female, as the character is female. He knows there's a high chance the real player is male, especially his own char is a female as well. This doesn't stop him from being drawn in. He's only slightly shocked when he finds out the truth.

I will admit it got a little droll for me with all the explanations and details about them waiting on and going into the raid, like, did we really need ALL that information? But the in game chatter is quite hilarious, and the puns on what certain things are called (Nether Caverns for example). Aside from all the extra information, I thought it was a very cute story and I found myself smiling a lot.

I have to say, I'm not sure Drew's bf, Sanee, is a good friend or not. He takes his rubbing to heart and ends up almost ruining things with Kit because of it.

I like the message this story brings as well, especially in the era of online friendships, as we all have them. It doesn't matter what other people think as long as what you're doing makes you happy and is important to you, that's all that matters.

I give the book 4 controllers

The ugliest truths blossom into the prettiest lies.

A year into the relationship with Domenico, Seth still wants him as desperately as ever. Nothing is better than being intoxicated with lust for his deadly man and feeling his steady hands all over.

No matter the misunderstandings, the fights... The crash. The burn.

Crossing the Mexican border has been a goal for Seth and Domenico for a few months, but the trip couldn’t have ended in more of a disaster. While Domenico is stuck at home, for Seth each passing day becomes more difficult. Desperate to keep his family afloat, he accepts a job offer from Los Sepultureros. The Gravediggers.

When Domenico’s need for control starts eroding their trust, Seth is sure their love can conquer all. But when Domenico rips open the wound left after the violence at the beginning of their relationship, it gushes blood all over their cozy lies and this time, there may be no way to seal it.

I needed this book to happen, and I didn't even really know i needed it to.
So much has happened between book 1 and this book that you almost forget how they started....almost.

This book was like a confession, absolving them of their sins. They needed to deal with the past and let it go to start over it should have been.

"The two of them belonged together like sin and confession”

- The ugliest truths blossom into the pretties lies-

That says it all. Ugly truths, the lies to cover it up. Lies to protect the other. They all become a tangled mess.

While these lies are being sorted through, things get pretty ugly. My heart broke for them. First for Dom and then for Seth. I don't think I have ever really cried in this series. Edge of my seat, yes, and a lot of worry, but never any actual tears. This book I was gasping like a fish as my heart broke for them. Of course there are still explosions, and lots of blood, what kind of adventure would it be if there wasn't?? But there is a lot of personal growth for the both of them as well. Even for Mark, who is all too eager to prove he is ready.

Dom also has a few "human' moments. Moments to show he is in fact just a man. My favorite one is the fly in the room. I too have had thoughts like this, so i think it really connects the character to the reader even more.

Dom has this moment, not if the life he had already, but of a future. A future he wants but doesn't think they will see. It is the sweetest thing. When he gets the chance, he starts taking steps into that direction to get things right with Seth, his family, and God, so that one day they can have that future, but based off a beginning without hatred, jealousy, and violence.

The book runs parallel to One Step Too Close. If you all were paying attention to where Dana was sent and what she has to do, you'll notice from Dom's conversations with her that she hasn't yet met who she does at the end of OSTC.

I am still very curious as to how that will play out and what will happen in the next book when Dom and Miquel ((his new "friend" in Mexico)) take a trip to Colombia. Will Seth be left to take care of Mark? Or will he refuse and go along. It's all still very mysterious and I am so excited to get more of their story. One thing that also makes me happy is that even though Seth is in the middle of all this violence and maybe a little hardened, he's still the sweet man that wants to have a food blog. He's so very endearing.

Until next time, I give it 5 forgiving stars

“Good morning,” Andy said, sounding much more like a co-worker than someone who’d been his boyfriend for nearly eight years. Paul couldn’t detect any anger or even regret about the previous evening, but there was no warmth in his voice at all. He looked at the man sitting on the living room sofa, seeing him more clearly than he had in a while. It was impossible to tell that he was hungover, even though he’d had at least as much to drink as Paul had. He was wearing a beautiful wool-silk blend sweater with a pair of slim, dark jeans that had surely cost more than Paul’s entire suit. No tie today, so he must be working from home. His blond hair, just now starting to be touched with silver, shone in the sun coming in through the window. At forty-four he was in amazing shape and still as gorgeous as the day they’d met. Paul wondered, as he often did, why he couldn’t make himself feel the way he once had about him.
“Hey,” Paul said, “I’ve got a lot of shit to catch up on at work, so I should get going.”
Andy rolled his eyes, winced slightly, and touched his temple. “Don’t worry; I’m not looking for a conversation this morning. I wanted to make sure you know that nothing changes just because we fucked, okay? That was goodbye sex. You still have to move out.”
Anger flared in Paul’s chest. As if he didn’t know that already. Despite his desire to get out the door, he found himself warming to an argument. “Yeah? No shit. Did you think I thought we were getting back together or something? Jesus, we broke up six months ago. If that was an option, I think it would have happened before now. Did you think I was hoping the third time would be a charm?”
“Paul,” he said, softening a little, “I can’t do this right now. I know you’re pissed. I know you don’t want to deal with it, but I can’t move on with you in my house. It’s too confusing.”

As You Wish (Shatterproof Bond #0.5)

1 wedding, 2 best men, one hell of a love story!

This contemporary M/M romantic comedy is set at the Scottish castle wedding of Annabelle Aiken to Scotsman Oliver Ramsay. Oliver’s brother Declan is to be joint best man, sharing the duties with Annabelle’s ‘kid’ brother, Samuel Aiken. However, both men have never actually met. Sam Aiken has been abroad, studying and working as an interpreter and he wouldn’t meet Declan until a few days before the wedding. But on meeting Sam Aiken, Declan is surprised to realize the ‘kid’ isn't a kid at all, but a tall, blond, and athletic young man. Sam makes Declan laugh like no other, and Declan is alarmed by the ferocious attraction he begins to feel for Sam. And as the attraction is reciprocated, the events at Dunloch Castle change everything Declan has ever believed about himself.

But is Samuel Aiken all that he appears to be?

Illuminate the Shadows (Shatterproof Bond #1)

In this M/M comedy thriller we continue where “As You Wish” ended.

The charming, mysterious Samuel Aiken has turned Declan Ramsay’s life upside down and Declan has experienced a remarkable change. He has come to terms with the fact he is bisexual, and he has fallen head-over- heels in love with his employer’s son. However, falling for his boss’s son was never going to be an easy path to happiness, mainly because the boss in question is multi-millionaire property tycoon and former MI5 operative, Sir James Aiken. Sir James is repulsed by his son’s homosexuality, and the lovers cannot hide from his looming presence for long. Soon enough James makes his move, and Declan finds out what he will have to endure to stay with Sam, and what he will have to give to feel worthy of Sam's love.

Return to Zero (Shatterproof Bond #2)

Pulled into a world of secrets and lies for the man he loves, Declan Ramsay’s life has changed immeasurably in the eight months since meeting, and falling for Sam Aiken. Declan journey of personal discovery is about to take a darker turn, and for Sam, the world becomes more treacherous than he could ever have imagined. Two A.L.L employees are missing -- presumed dead, while at an outdoor adventure centre in the Scottish Highlands. Sir James Aiken sends his son and Declan to follow the trail, and discover their fate. Declan is keen to get started. However, Sir James sees to it that seeds of doubt and discord have been sewn between the couple. The journey to their Highland location, and the discoveries they make when they reach the G’wan Adventures centre, prove that Sir James Aiken has been less than honest with his son. Events in the Highlands force Sam and Declan to face their greatest fears, and understand what they both really want from life -- and from each other.

Inspiration strikes at the strangest of times.

Born in Germany, I spent most of my twenty-year professional career making art. I relocated to the UK and, faced with the dreaded artist’s creative block, I started to write and found I loved it more than making art.
My first novel “Schonling” was a best seller in the GLBT-Bisexual genre on the ‘AllRomance eBooks’ site. I have just completed my sixth book, and am writing my seventh and eighth books consecutively. I have recently signed French translation rights for the whole Shatterproof Bond series. The first book in the series As You Wish will be published in France in October 2016, a year after its original release.
I adore the M/M genre. I enjoy writing about wounded souls and the complexities of personal relationships. Despite not having found proof yet, I believe in love at first sight and endeavour to give my M/M characters a thrilling journey and a satisfying ending.
